The founders came to me looking for someone that could design the next generation tool to decrease climate impact in the construction industry.

Challenge

The construction industry is a giant source of climate impact. The need of digitisation in this industry is huge. Collaboration in the building process is a challenge with the lack of good data for products and life cycle analysis of buildings.

Design

A web based tool to collect product data and make this available for all the stakeholders connected to a construction project. The tool should be simple to start with to give more people access to qualitative product information. We should also have kick ass visuals and marketing on the journey.

Research

A wide span of users ranging from manufacturers, architects and construction to sustainability experts. We wanted to take something complex and make it more accessible to more people working with property development and planning projects.

The team had great knowledge from life cycle assessments and managing projects. We also collaborated with people with great knowledge about the challenges from architecture, data calculations and project planning.

Outcome

  • A ecosystem for building product manufacturers and project stakeholders.
  • The top property developers, and distribution companies in Sweden use the tool and data from Prodikt today.
  • From a small startup challenging the industry to a well know tool.
  • A growing dream team!

Lessons learned

  • Challenging a conventional industry can take time. 🏗️
  • Good internal communication in a fast growing company is a key factor for success... and survival 😀
